The Center’s Latino Forum is responsible for creating and hosting community wide educational, social, cultural and civic activities targeting the Latino LGBT community. This program is volunteer-run and depends on the ideas and energy of the organizing committee for its success. Past activities include: Cinco-de Mayo Celebration, Latino Community BBQ’s, Latino Performance nights. |

| Volunteer Requirements |
Latino Forum members should be interested or have experience in brainstorming ideas, making decisions through group process and be committed to implementing proposed projects. Good communication skills, patience and the ability to work on a team are required. Familiarity with issues relating to the LGBT Latino community is preferred. |
| Specific Duties |
• Participate in monthly group brainstorm and decision discussions regarding ideas for future activities • Outreach to potential program or event participants by posting flyers, Web postings, tabling and through word of mouth promotion • Help to secure donations of food/drink for Forum events • Provide logistical support for day of event • Assist in event set up and clean up |
| Training Requirements |
All volunteers must first attend the Center’s volunteer orientation before joining the Latino Forum. Applicants will be asked to attend a brief one-on-one meeting with a Latino Forum Co-Chair. Those selected may be asked to participate in additional training. We require that all new Latino Forum volunteers attend the Center’s next available scheduled Diversity 101 training, in addition to attending at least one of our specialized diversity trainings. • Latino Forum Volunteers must commit to at least 4 months as an active participant • Attendance at monthly committee meetings (approximately 3 hours long) • Attendance at quarterly community events/activities (approximately 3 – 5 hours long) • Additional tasks to be performed outside of committee (could range between 3 – 12 hours per month, depending on interest and availability). |
